We have now done checks on the boats and kit, the rib has been serviced and so we are pretty much ready to go. The plan is to start the Cadet Sailing with a Saturday session on May 15th. This will be a refresher, covering the basics, and is open to all cadets, including new ones, or ones moving up from the Oppies. Dwynwen (senior instructor) will be emailing all of last year’s cadets.
If you want to participate in this session, or the ongoing Thursday night sessions, please text cadet’s details – name, age and contact number to 07540 737016. New cadets have to get their parents to fill out a form so give us an email address to send it to you.
Cadet membership of the club is £22 or free if your parents have a family membership.
Each session costs £10 – which pays for the instructors. (The club supplies the boats and use of wetsuits and buoyancy aids.)
We will set up a What’s App group to communicate.
Want to improve your sailing? Or start from the beginning and learn to sail? Sail a dinghy!
Adult sessions on offer Monday nights starting on 17th May, cost £10 per session.
Both cadets and adults sessions will follow the RYA Learn to Sail scheme, and at the end, you should be competent to sail a dinghy independently in moderate conditions.
If there is sufficient demand it should be possible to arrange a weekly session of free-sailing, but with the club rib on the water as safety boat. So if you are a member and don’t have a boat, the club boats will be available for a small financial contribution to cover wear and tear, once you are signed off as competent.
Following the recent zoom presentation by Mike Butterfield Race Management Coordinator for Wales we are pleased to publish the presentation he provided.
