Revised Moorings Rates/Summer 2020

If you are intending to launch this summer – once we have permission to do so – the following revised rates will apply. The 20% that everyone has already paid is accounted for in the new rates. And once we get the go ahead, it is up to you when you launch; your fee will be charged from the month you launch to the end of the season. There is also a one month discount as we anticipate there will be some reductions and constraints on the launch service.

The revised details of the Launch Service will be published on this link once we understand the requirements and have completed our revised risk assessment.

To contact the Launch Driver for a lift out or a lift ashore use chanel 37 (M1). If your radio does not have Chanel 37 (M1) please call the club on the telephone 01407 762526.

These details are under review and will be re-published once we know when we can return to using the moorings.

Once we know when we can re-launch and use the moorings we will update this article.

In the team’s induction we reviewed the Risk Assessments and new protocols in order to make sure that we have all foreseeable eventualities covered. As noted before we have assigned certain directors to areas of responsibility and the launch team will have jobs to do when they are not ferrying you all to and from your boats.

We have discussed issues about bad weather, intoxication and last launches and we will be presenting these protocols shortly to comply with our responsibilities as the club. Please remember that you should be courteous to the Launch team and respect any decisions they make with regard to your and their safety. We do recommend that you wear your lifejacket whenever getting into the launch or indeed one of the ribs.

We are currently experiencing problems with safe access to the Club Launches for a period of around low water springs especially with high atmospheric pressure. There is still some confusion over whether we can or cannot use the remaining Marina pontoon for access to the launches. This being the case the Directors have reluctantly instructed the launch drivers not to use the pontoons. As there is also a problem with the concrete blocks placed by the club beside the slipway last year we are now informing your that there will be no access to the launches at low water springs where the water level prevents safe access to the launches. We are working hard to come up with an alternative but at this time we anticipate that no launches will be available on the following dates for approximately 50 minutes either side of low water where the tidal height is below 1m. The next problem tides will be on 5th May to 7th May as shown below.

Moorings Update as of 2019-04-24

With our moorings filling up now at a rate of knots we are continuing to work on the replacement of those moorings lost and damaged by traffic through our moorings area over the winter, this has been and continues to be a significant amount of work. We are now waiting for Caernarfon Harbour Trust to complete the installation of an additional 6 moorings which they were unable to achieve on their last period of working. We hope these will be completed during next week.

Cleaning your mooring before you arrive: It has been noted that a number of members have complained about the state of their moorings on their arrival. Whilst we try to make sure that they are cleaned before the known arrival date we cannot do this if our moorings holders do not inform us of their intended date of arrival. An email was sent to all the Mooring Holders for 2019 who have an email address with a prepared email button for you to send back details of your intended arrival date. This information is then updated with the Moorings Team and cleaning is scheduled on this basis. Some of you have contact the office rather than using the email and this too is perfectly acceptable. However if you have not given us details of your anticipated arrival date then it is not appropriate to complain. We have just sent out email to all our moorings holders on this subject.

This is highly significant as in just over a week we are hosting the ISORA race fleet on the evening of May 4th following the finish of the race from Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead and we may need to make moorings available for these yachts.
